Hope Forgey
English Program Coordinator and IB MYP Coordinator
Hope Forgey holds bachelor’s degrees in psychology and elementary education and is a certified elementary teacher in both Colorado and Massachusetts. She has lived in Taiwan and speaks Mandarin Chinese. Along with teaching English in the 4th Grade, Hope coordinates all of the English curriculum. Hope also coordinates the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) authorization process so that the DMIS middle school can become an accredited IB World School. The middle school has already achieved IB Candidate School status and can implement the Middle Years Programme. In her free time, Hope enjoys spending time with her husband and son.

Kelly Babcock
Math and Science Specialist
A Colorado native, Kelly Babcock received a bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Population and Organismic Biology at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Following graduation, she served with AmeriCorps in Ardmore, Oklahoma and worked for the Oklahoma State Department of Education teaching service-learning. In 1997, she began her 10-year career teaching 6th and 7th grade science and math with Denver Public Schools. During this time, Kelly obtained a Master’s Teaching License and worked with a wide range of students ranging from gifted and talented to those with special needs. This past year, she worked as a new teacher mentor for the Denver Teacher Fellows, a program that helps professionals gain their teacher’s license through teaching in high-needs schools. Kelly loves to travel and spend time with her family.

Leah Bassoff
Lead Teacher
Leah Bassoff received her bachelor’s degree from Carleton College in Minnesota and her master’s in Education from Columbia Teachers College in New York. In addition to having taught nearly every grade from kindergarten to high school in both Colorado and New York, Leah has also worked as an assistant editor for Penguin Publishing and as a freelance writer. She has a background in theater and improvisational comedy, and her hobbies include art, reading, and travel. In her spare time, Leah is an aspiring novelist. Leah also does volunteer work with a group of refugees from Southern Sudan. Best of all, she is the mother of two sons, ages eight and ten.

Angi Felber
Lead Teacher
Angi Felber is a native of Wisconsin and holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Colorado State University. Travels to Spain and New Zealand inspired her to emphasize diversity and global awareness in her teaching. Angi enjoys practicing her Spanish with the Spanish faculty at DMIS, and always strives to bring multicultural lessons into her classroom. As an English teacher, one of her main goals is to help students become active readers and to express themselves effectively and creatively through writing.

Gretchen Jennings
Lead Teacher
Gretchen Jennings holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a minor in psychology from Wake Forest University. Originally from Midland, Mich., Gretchen has traveled extensively, and even spent a summer teaching English in Malawi, Africa. Last spring, she presented a workshop at the International Society for Technology in Education annual conference on utilizing smart phones in the classroom and led the DMIS Destination Imagination team to the Global Finals in the spring of 2011. In her spare time enjoys hiking, cooking, snowboarding and photography.

Alima Ravenscroft
Lead Teacher
Alima Ravenscroft was born in Seattle, raised in Houston, and lived in France, Malaysia and Australia. After student teaching in 3rd and 6th grade in Australia, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. She also holds a Colorado teaching certificate and a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Colorado at Denver. Alima has over 8 years of teaching experience and believes that creating a successful learning environment for students includes structure, high expectations, and helping students to develop a deep love and respect for themselves and others. When she’s not teaching, Alima enjoys photography, tennis, and traveling.

Marjory Warner
Lead Teacher
Marge Warner taught at Montclair Academy for nine years before joining the DMIS faculty. Originally from Waterbury, Conn., she has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Southern Connecticut State College. She and her husband have three children and two grandchildren.
