Early Childhood Education

Our Vision: Denver Montclair International School’s pre-elementary students are:

  • respectful of their environment
  • able to express their emotions and ideas appropriately
  • motivated to learn because they are self-confident and aware of their ability to communicate in two languages.

Our Educational Philosophy and Practice: DMIS’ Early Childhood Education Program is rooted in the belief that children learn more when they can explore using concrete materials that interest them. Our teachers continually adapt and expand their full-immersion, bilingual curriculum to meet the needs and interests of the children they teach. Our instructors:

  • follow a consistent schedule
  • interact with each child individually every day
  • allow children to explore the classroom freely
  • provide developmentally appropriate play activities that promote creativity, imagination, problem-solving, risk-taking and teamwork
  • work actively to help children feel safe in the classroom and at school
  • fully immerse students in their second language and speak in English only to provide comfort and clarity.

Where We Focus: Our ECE program focuses on three major areas of child development:

  • Social-Emotional: Students build self-efficacy, problem-solving skills, positive self-esteem, a healthy sense of cooperative social behavior and a positive attitude toward life.
  • Cognitive: Students expand their verbal communication, advance their problem-solving skills through logical thinking, develop an awareness of the world, begin reading and writing and participate in imaginative play.
  • Physical: Students hone gross and fine motor skills using all of their senses.

Our Curriculum: The core philosophy of our ECE program remains the same across language programs. However, aspects of each language track differ to reflect unique cultural and educational approaches to learning.
