Middle School
After 35 years of offering high-quality elementary education, Denver Montclair International School has opened a middle school. The DMIS Middle School is an International Baccalaureate Candidate School, implementing the Middle Years Programme (MYP) to all students.
The inaugural 6th grade class opened this year, in the fall of 2011. DMIS will add a grade each year — 7th grade will be added in 2012 and 8th grade in 2013–to offer families living in the metro-Denver area a new choice for middle school.
We are currently enrolling 6th and 7th grades for the 2012-13 academic year.
Call (303) 340 – 3647 or email admissions@dmischool.com to schedule a Shadow Day for your 5th or 6th grader to spend a day in the 6th grade class.
When it comes to foreign language instruction (known in the MYP as Language B), there will be two tracks for middle-schoolers in French, Mandarin Chinese or Spanish. The Intermediate/Advanced Track is for students who are at an intermediate/advanced level in a foreign language. The Novice Track is for students who have received limited to no foreign language instruction, and would be placed in classes at a novice level. This subject area represents the only time that students will be separated by foreign language ability. All other subject areas (Language A, Humanities, Math, Science, Physical Education, Arts, and Technology) will be taught to the entire home room group in English.
Please note that no prior foreign language experience is required for admission to the middle school.
