September 2011
Parents of students in Grades 1 and 2:  it’s time to register for Wednesday Workshops!  Wednesday Workshops are enrichment activities built right into the school day.  Students in Grades 1 and 2 have the oppportunity to pick three different activities to participate in each Wednesday afternoon.  The fall 2011 session will run from Sept. 14, 2011 to Jan. 18, 2012. March 2011

Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Fri., Mar. 11 from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. There will be no school on this day.  However, there will be camps available with pre-registration.  Please register your children in the front office.

October 2010

Fall Break Camp: Oct. 18-22. Day camps available with limited space. We have 32 spaces per day for 3 and and 4-year-old campers, and 36 spaces per day for children ages 5 and up. Children are assigned to camps based on date of birth and NOT grade, so please fill out the appropriate form.

Camp theme:  Cornacopia!
Camp hours: 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. No morning daycare.
Camp fees: $40 per day. Extended daycare (in the afternoon ending at 5 p.m.) is included in the price.

Registration is accepted on a first come, first served basis and must be accompanied with payment. We will accept registration through Wed., Oct. 13, provided space is still available.

Colorado Rapids Night: Join the DMIS community for a night with the Colorado Rapids! Mark your calendars for the 7 p.m. game on Sat., Oct. 2 against D.C. United. Tickets are $25 each and will be on sale in the front office Sept. 14—29. There will be a pre-game tailgate, a block of seats reserved for all DMIS families and an opportunity to meet players after the game.

School Yearbooks: If you order your 2010-11 yearbook and/or purchase an ad before Nov. 12, you will receive a 20 percent discount. Parents often buy personal ad space to send a special message to their children (you can design your own ad, or the yearbook committee will design one for you). Prices: yearbook only, $24; hardcover upgrade, $4 per book; yearbook plus half-page ad, $62; yearbook plus one-fourth-page ad, $44; one-fourth-page ad only, $25; half-page ad only, $50. Download the order form, and return it to the DMIS front office with a check made out to the DMIS-PTO. Email wpnaro@aol.comwith questions.

Just a friendly reminder: our school day ends at 3:30 p.m. sharp. That is when the school’s doors will be unlocked so that you may pick up your child.

After-school care. We are holding after-school sessions in new locations on our campus. They are:

• 3 and 4 year olds:  students can be picked up in rooms 119 and 117 of Kimak Hall. If you do not find them there, please head to the ECE playground at the south entrance of Kimak Hall.
• Kindergarten:  students can be picked up in the gym. For security reasons, please access the gym by entering Kimak Hall (main entrance to ECE building). From Kimak Hall, walk across the courtyard to the gym’s south doors. You may exit the gym directly into the parking lot after signing out.
• Grades 1-5:  students should be picked up by 4:45 p.m. from the 2nd floor of the Elementary Building. If you’re picking up after this time, please look for your child in the gymnasium. For security reasons, please access the gym by entering Kimak Hall (main entrance to ECE building). From Kimak Hall, walk across the courtyard to the gym’s south doors. You may exit the gym directly into the parking lot after signing out.

Please don’t forget the importance of signing to confirm that you have picked up your child.
