Planned Giving – Denver Montclair International School

Planned Giving

We’re profoundly grateful for those who wish to make Denver Montclair International School a part of their estate giving. Our Planned Giving Program provides a variety of ways to make a gift that does not deplete lifetime assets and, in some cases, can provide additional income and significant tax deductions.

Among the options you may wish to consider when making a gift to DMIS:

Bequests
A gift of this nature would be provided in your will. It may be a percentage of your estate, the residual of an estate, a certain item or a specific dollar amount. Our school recognizes and honors parents, alumni and their family and friends who have included us in their estate plans.

Charitable Remainder Trust
This trust provides either a fixed or variable income for you or your family. Part of the trust qualifies for an income tax deduction. At the death of the last beneficiary, the trust’s assets are distributed to DMIS.

Gifts of Real Estate
A gift of real estate to DMIS could provide considerable tax benefits. You also have the option of retaining the right to occupy the property for life or even to receive the income the property generates.

Gifts of Life Insurance or Pension Benefits
You may realize tax benefits by giving DMIS a previously acquired life insurance policy that is no longer needed for its initial purpose. DMIS also may be named as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, company pension or profit-sharing plan or of a private fund such as an IRA, Keogh or tax-sheltered annuity.

Gifts of Stock and Securities
Transferring appreciated stocks and securities to DMIS can be a great way to make a charitable gift. You could benefit in two ways. First, when you donate publicly traded stocks that have been held long-term (owned for more than one year), you may avoid capital gains taxes. Second, you may take the full fair market value of the gift (on the date it is transferred rather than the amount you originally paid for it) as a charitable deduction on your income taxes.

In-Kind Donations
Every year, dozens of companies, nonprofit and trade organizations and generous individuals donate their time, talents and resources to support DMIS. We consider them Community Partners and gratefully accept their contributions.

Matching Gifts
Every year, companies at which our donors work provide matching gifts to DMIS. Please contact your employer’s human resources department, community relations department or company foundation to see if they’ll be willing to double your contribution to DMIS.

Memorial and “In Honor Of” Gifts
DMIS gratefully accepts gifts made in memory or in honor of family, friends or faculty members. Consider recognizing a birthday, graduation or other significant event with a gift to DMIS.

Thank you for your interest in supporting Denver Montclair International School. Your attorney or financial planner can provide additional information about how these ways of giving apply to your specific circumstances. DMIS also can recommend a lawyer who specializes in estate planning and charitable giving.

If you already have designated the school as a beneficiary, please contact Director of Institutional Advancement Diane Mourning at 303-340-DMIS (3647) or diane.mourning@dmischool.com so we can recognize your generosity.
