The Elements Art and Music Show – Denver Montclair International School

The Elements Art and Music Show

To conclude Science Week, the DMIS Art and Music departments proudly present ”The Elements” — a collaborative Art and Music Show on Fri., May 20. There will be musical performances by students of all ages throughout the day in the gym and over 1,000 pieces of original student artwork representing earth, air, fire and water will be displayed around campus through June 3. On May 20, Kristin West, DMIS music teacher, will conduct four music concerts with thematic emphasis on the elements and cultures of the world. The 3-year-old classes will perform at 9 a.m., the pre-Kindergarten classes at 10:30 a.m., the Kindergarten and 1st grade classes at 1 p.m. and the 2nd through 5th grades at 6 p.m.

In between music concerts, parents are encouraged to walk throughout campus to see the elements come to life with the students’ artwork. Each DMIS student will have at least 3 pieces of artwork displayed. In the north end of Kimak Hall (the ECE building) all art projects will represent fire, in the south end they will represent water.  On the first floor of the elementary building all projects will represent the earth and all projects displayed on the second floor will represent air. Please note that all ages will be displayed in each building — you can find some 3, 4 and 5-year-old projects in the elementary building and some elementary students’ projects in the ECE buidling.  All ceramics produced by 1st-5th graders will be on display in the gym. Ms. Mac, DMIS art teacher, taught students that ceramics embody all the elements — they started with earth mixed with water, then they were left out in the air to dry and then fired in the kiln for the finished product. We hope you will join us for this exciting school-wide celebration of the arts!
