Arrr and Shiver Me Timbers

One of the joys of summer camp is that in spite of usual calendars, Halloween doesn’t have to come just once a year. And just look at this week to prove it! We saw pirate captains, mad scientists, adventurers, racers, and even the Cat in the Hat wandering our campus. From the start, our language campers set the tone this week as they transformed from everyday campers to swashbuckling treasure seekers, fighting pirate battles on the high seas, going on treasure hunts, and even touching pieces of eight from the only real pirate treasure ever found! Of course, the pirates did wait to hear the all clear from the 3 and 4-year-old science camp, who studied the many secrets of the universe including the terror of all pirates… sharks!  But their adventure seeking spirit found great company amongst our other campers, as the Adventure campers zipped across zip-lines and sought out dinosaurs on Dinosaur Ridge. Not to be outdone, our Wheels camp fearlessly performed mind boggling tricks, visited skate parks, and even tested out their own soapbox racer (which may be the fastest west of the Mississippi). And to top off this whole scene of transforming and daring children, our drama camp put together a fantastic tale of chivalry that mixed all styles and genres, even pulling in the Cat in the Hat (who had somehow picked up a bit of a French accent). In costume or out, what’s certain is that great times were had by all.
